Habitat’s ReStore resale outlets sell reusable and surplus building materials to the public
While every ReStore outlet is a little different, most focus on home improvement goods like furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances.

ReStore resale outlets accept donated goods which are sold to the general public at a fraction of the retail price. The proceeds help local Habitat affiliates fund the construction of Habitat homes within their communities.

Surplus and Gently Used Materials Need

Appliances We accept appliances less than 7years old. They must be clean and in 100% working order with no missing parts. Please include owner’s manuals if you have them, as they add value to your donation.

Kitchen Cabinets &Vanities Up to date and not damaged. They must have doors, shelving, display racks, drawers etc.

Doors We accept doors in GOOD condition. They must not have holes, cracks, rot, etc.

Electrical We accept most electrical parts, wires, plugs, plates and the hardware associated with electrical wiring.

Fans We accept ceiling fans if they are complete and in working condition.

Flooring material We accept tile, hardwood, and vinyl. We will accept carpet if it has no stains, worn areas or odor.

Furniture All furniture must be in good condition, no rips, tears or stains. We can only accept NEW mattresses. No cribs.  We do accept toddler beds; however, we do not accept toddler beds that have been converted from cribs.

Office Furniture We take desks, credenzas, file cabinets and chairs. NO partitions, cubicles, or office equipment made with particleboard.

Hardware We accept hardware for doors, cabinets, gates, etc.

Lighting We accept most light fixtures except fluorescent.

Lumber • Plywood • Sheetrock • Trim We accept full and1/2 sheets of plywood. We accept full lengths of lumber. We will accept trim in smaller pieces, but not less than 4 feet long. Please, no rot or nails.

Misc. Domestic/Home We accept framed artwork, area rugs, decorative accent items, collectibles, antiques.

Paint We accept full, unopened cans of water base paint only.

Plumbing • Tubs • Sinks• Showers • Commodes We accept tubs, sinks and vanities if they are in good condition and clean. We accept commodes. They must be very clean!

Roofing Material We accept all types of roofing material such as rolled roofing material, metal roofing, and bundles of new shingles.

Tools We accept all hand and power tools in working condition. We are also in need of a forklift.

TVs & Stereos We accept TVs & stereos less than ten years old. No consoles, please.

Windows We accept DOUBLE PANE windows only. Window Treatments Draperies, wood blinds. NO wood, vinyl or aluminum.

Unfortunately, the Habitat ReStores cannot accept the following items for donation. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Clothing
  • Hazardous or highly flammable materials, such as oil base paint, varnish, shellac, lacquer, paint thinner, etc.
  • Electronic equipment – Computers, VCRs, batteries, or personal care items such as electric razors, electric curlers or curling irons.  We suggest donating them to DogHouse Computers.
  • Exercise equipment
  • Wall mirrors without frames
  • Infant car seats and infant-related accessories.
  • Items in need of repair
  • Textbooks or technical materials
  • Old typewriters
  • No wood windows.
  • No organs or pianos.

Promoting reuse and recycling

ReStore resale outlets provide an environmentally and socially responsible way to keep good, reusable materials out of the waste stream while providing funding for Habitat’s community improvement work.

We accept cabinets, appliances, electrical fixtures, tile, counter tops, furniture, sinks, commodes, doors, windows, etc to help support Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County’s mission to build quality affordable housing for those in need and to support good stewardship of community resources by promoting sustainability, recycling, and limited use of landfills.
